So, I gots a job. Before I tell you about it, just know how awesome it is, seeing as I've been looking for one for 2 years. I move up here, less than a month later, I have one. I'm so happy. I am a Subway 'sandwich expert'. So, I've been applying all over Cary/Raleigh for jobs since I got here. I got one callback, from Cracker Barrel. They ask me down to talk to a manager two weeks ago. I get there, only for the manager to say, "I'm busy, we'll schedule an interview." Never got a call back. Called THEM, asked for my interview, they say, ok, come down on Tuesday(a week ago). I said alright. So I went down there on Wednesday(Had to push it back a day in order to get a ride), only to be told that because I didn't give two weeks notice at the Cracker Barrel In Gainesville when I worked there, my rehire status is uneligible, and despite what I was told to the contrary, there is NO way around that. FUCKKKKKK. So I'm all depressed from that. Later that day, Mandys cell rings. I answer it, its Subway's owner and he wants me to come the next morning for an interview. During the interview, he asks if I'm hired, when can I start. I said asap. He says 'Be here at 5 to start training.' YEEEESSS!!!!!!!! So, I'm working up a storm, having a blast with a job again. I can't wait to start getting moneys!!!!!
PART 2:Scary times.
I was working the closing shift Saturday night. We had a slight rush, nothing huge. One guy is left in the store. He asks if we're hiring, I say I don't know, but I can give you an application if you'd like. He says sure. I go and get it and hand it to him. He takes it, and then immediately puts a note in front of the cashier.(Note:She's from Nepal and speaks like 5 words in English). I glance over at it, thinking he's asking her out or something. He then pulls up his shirt, exposing the pistol in his waistband and says Do what I fucking say or I'll shoot you both. Open the drawer and give me everything in it.
My reaction: Whaaaatttttttt....oh damn. So, listening to everything I've ever heard, I prepare to give him the drawer and cooperate. Slight problem. I'm so new I don't know how to open the drawer and she couldnt tell what he said. He's getting antsy, acting like hes about to pull the gun out. I finally make her understand that the drawer needs to open NOW and hand it straight to him so he calms down. He takes what he wants out of it, then tells me to get the 'lockbox' out of the back because he knows I have the keys. We have no lockbox. We have a safe, under the register, which time-locks and NO ONE can get in it. I try explaining this to him and he finally gets it. He tells me to disconnect the phone and throw one part of it one way, the other part the opposite direction. I do this, and he backs out of the store. I get Anjou down behind the counter in case he shoots through the windows, or his threat of an accomplice coming is true. I then run out and lock the front door in case it WAS true or he comes back for some reason. After which, I reconnected the phone and called the cops. They showed in about 2 minutes(genius pulled this half a mile from the town police station. I had her call the manager, then the cops got us out and cordoned off the building/got my statement. She of course couldnt give one. After they did all their stuff and I've told the story to a ZILLION different detectives, the owner and manager showed up and we went back in and started closing early, all the while serving whatever customers came in. Later on, the cops came back and did a photo lineup with me, as well, as picking me up even later and driving me to where they caught some guy who might have matched the description I made, hoping I could give them a positive id. They also came by the apt last night and did a second photo lineup. None of them were him. They think its the same guy who hit two other stores in that area the same day. What an introduction to the job, huh?
